Vintage Thingies Thursday -- Polly Pal
Today's Vintage Thingie is my Polly Pal doll. I was 8-9 in this photo. I loved this doll. I can't remember if Mom made her or if she had her made...regardless, she was one of my favorites. As was Ballerina Barbie who is in my other hand!I have searched and searched and my parents have searched and searched for Polly Pal, but alas, she has gone the way of most of my childhood toys and simply disappeared.
After I began my adventures in sewing I decided to see if I could find a pattern for Polly Pal. I scored this one on ebay!
Decided to try and make her. I've not made it very far. I changed her face a bit 'cause none would ever replace my own Polly. The body wasn't so hard. The clothes and the hair are a much more daunting task. Perhaps I will finish her someday. In the meantime, if y'all come across MY sweet Polly Pal w/her red hair and polka dot dress, send her home, please.

Awww what a sweet story, it always make me a little sad when your fav toys are forgotten about & can't be found...the one your making is pretty cute too :)
This is so cute! I hope you'll post picture when you do finish it.
What a cute doll. I will keep an eye out for her. Maybe she will show up. You doll that you are making looks very cute. Now......finish her.
Your old Polly Pal was very cute...so is your new one -hope you finish her soon.
Awww. I sure hope you find your little Polly! Your new one is coming along great! :)
What a cute little doll. I'm glad you found the pattern. I don't remember the Polly Pal doll. My special doll was a Sparkle Plenty doll. This was the most popular doll in 1947. I'd give anything if I still had it.

I don't remember Polly Pal. We had Raggedy Ann and Hollie Hobbie. How great that you found the pattern, but please put something on to keep her warm until her outfit is ready!
Oh Kellie, I remember these too and I had one from a fete someone had handmade too. I love yours and the face has so much character. Oh you must finish her SOON>>>>>>>
I had raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and loved them both. They're gone, too. You're doing a great job on this one here, as usual!
